Hats sleep anywhere

Hats Sleep Anywhere

Hats sleep anywhere, any table, any chair.
Top of piano, window-ledge, in the middle, on the edge.
Open drawer, empty shoe, anybody's head will do.
Fitted in a cardboard box, in the cupboard with your frocks.
Anywhere! They don't care! Hats sleep anywhere.
(With apologies to poet Eleanor Farjeon for parody of “Cats Sleep Anywhere”!)
This is a few from my vast collection of hats, most of which were the ones rescued from my old primary school. They were originally my great granny's but were donated to the school as she had a very small head. However, luckily when we re-found them, they fitted! Happy doesn't begin to describe it...
The silk scarves were also inherited from the same relative. They're now stored in a lovely old leather hat box found in a charity shop.
The brown trilby is actually Christie's Of London. And the yellow scarf is Yves Saint Laurent, found completely by chance. Both very lucky charity shop finds!
The white brogues are unworn second hand, from ebay. They are my favourite shoes of the moment, pairing with my black pair of men's brogue's to match. The dress is another charity shop find - Topshop and such a lovely colour.
NOTE: I know I recieved some blog awards a few weeks ago.. I swear I will do a post on them at some point, I just wanted to get these pictures up here first! They will be coming soon.

Love the hats, but esp. love the story & the photography!

That's you, right? So who did the photography? I used to do 'self-portraits' (in film, on my dad's old Pentax) with a self-timer, because my then-boyfriend (now husband) just didn't get it about taking photos. I'm a bit jealous when I see these bloggers with boyfriends who go around shooting them.

It's been a while since I've done a 'hats off to..' on my blog, and I'd love to do one for your post today. Can I lift one of your shots? Or I can just use one of my hat shots.

I love the idea of your grandmother donating the hats to the school. What a lovely way to pay tribute to her, and her excellent taste! : )

Thanks for visiting, by the way. I've somehow signed out on my sign-off, hmm..

You wear hats quite well. Not many people have the ability to do that. Gorgeous pictures - but nothing less was to be expected from you! :)
